March Executive Board Meeting—Mar 2, 2017 at Catie Morales’ home

Call to Order: 7:00PM

Members Present: Mike Torrey; Rick Jones; Brad Koch; Mary Vander Maten; Catie Morales; Kim Nelson; Bill Johnson; Kim Coffield; Chris Jewett

Review of Minutes: Brad Koch, from February’s meeting

Treasurer’s Report: John Tedrick (from email)
· Total Planned Income to Date: $22,556.65
· Actual Income to Date: $22,594.47
· Total Planned Expenses to Date: $7,780.46
· Actual Expenses to Date: $7,596.89

Per our meeting in January, there is $500 in the current budget for the Little Library. Tim, please thank Nathan for volunteering and ask him to send me a receipt and I’ll write him a check. Also, we only budgeted $175 for one yard sale this year. We will need to find the additional funds for the September event.

Membership Committee: Al and Sandy Obuchowski – no update

· Newsletter—Catie Morales – updates no later than the 25th of each month
· Neighborhood Watch—open – note placed in newsletter requesting volunteer to lead, Rick to request process/procedure from Greg Summers

Continuing Business—Issues and Updates
· Server/Website-Kim presented a template and the Board voted to purchase for $85. Paul Armstrong has been released from responsibility for the website. Goal for having the website up and running is mid-May.
· Little Library- Nathan Bergman will build a small structure for the little library. He will have this completed in the spring. His estimate of materials well under our budget (under $200).
· FCE Teaming up with MCA re: events such as Easter Egg Hunt, NNO, holiday parades (cost sharing needed) – Chris Jewett, President of the FCE HOA joined the meeting to discuss ways both neighborhoods can team up to sponsor events.
· Best of Braddock (BoB) Awards—“Neighbor of the Month” recognition-selectees to be highlighted with a few paragraphs in the monthly Braddock Beacon as to why they are special-Board to consider making a nomination.
· Braddock District Council Meeting (County Budget Meeting) March 8th at the Kings Park Library Meeting Room (9000 Burke Lake Rd)

Continuing Business—Upcoming Events
· Feed the Firefighters (Burke Vol FD) —Maryn Simon has offered to coordinate; March 18th
· Neighborhood Cleanup – Sarah Mayhew will hold the spring clean-up on Saturday, March 18th from 10am to 1pm.
· Easter Egg Hunt – Sarah Koch – event to be held on April 8th @ 2PM– looking for teen volunteers (offering service hours)

New Business:
· MCA Turkey Trot-Bill Johnson and Kim Coffield presented a plan to put on a 5k and 1 mile fun run on November 23rd to celebrate family, health and friendship in the neighborhood. The anticipated budget is $160. Both MCA and FCE agreed to sponsor. Will revisit with Board at September meeting.
· Spring Yard Sale – Erick Arraya – spring yard sale scheduled for April 29th, and one in the fall (TBD). FCE agreed to participate and share in the cost for advertising. Erick will start advertising at the end of March.
· Dumpster Day – Discussed using the FCE pool parking lot for dumpster day. Dumpster would be dropped off on a Friday and picked up on Monday/Tuesday. This would be a joint MCA/FCE event in the fall.
· Scholarships – Applications are due to Mike Torrey by April 1st.
· Movie Night – Board and FCE considering a move to September 2nd-Need to determine if locked into a date with the screen company.
