Pawsome 3rd Annual Pet Parade

The sun came out and the wind settled down just in time for our annual Middleridge/FCE Pet Parade event on April 13th. Dogs of all shapes and sizes and one hamster joined together with their humans and marched from the top of Broadwater Drive to Middleridge Park.

Judges

Judges compiled their votes and awarded prizes in seven different categories (see below for the list of winners). Thank you to our discerning judges, MCA President John Bayer, FCE President Travis Brown, Supervisor Walkinshaw, and Braddock District FCPS Representative Sizemore-Heizer. An ample supply of delicious bakery treats was donated by Great Harvest Bread in Burke. Webers and Petco, both in Fairfax, donated a generous supply of dog toys and treats and BarkBox donated a gift card for a free plush box for a lucky winner. Thanks to the fantastic fundraising efforts of Nicole Gonzalez, there were enough toys and/or treats for any pup who wanted one.

Helpers

This event would not have been possible without the hardworking members of the Pet Parade Committee: John Bayer, Nicole Gonzalez, The Koch Family, Eloise Ayers, The Williams Family, and Ashlyn Edwards. Our fantastic Neighborhood Watch Committee members, Bill Pryor, John Tedrick, Brahma Koodallur, and Bob Franklin, ensured that all residents arrived safely to the park. Thank you to FCE for donating bottled water to the participants and Target gift card for the contest winners. If you enjoyed the parade this year, we’d love to have you help plan next year’s event (email Maryn at mds81812@gmail.com). Until then, MCA is woofing everyone a wonderful spring!
