Middleridge showered our veterans with love during our Valentines for Veterans event held on Sunday, Feb. 6th. Over 1,200 valentines made by our residents and children of various Fairfax County Public Schools were distributed to our 138 local veterans. The sun shone brightly as the Girl and Cub Scouts gleefully delivered the gift bags to our very appreciative veterans. Valentines for Veterans is a small token of gratitude to our local veterans. Many thanks to all who helped honor the sacrifices and dedication of our local vets.

Over 1,200 valentines made by our residents and children of various Fairfax County Public Schools were distributed to our 138 local veterans.

This event was made possible by the generosity and support of our community. Many thanks to all of our residents who made beautiful, heart-felt valentines and to Maryn Simon, our Fairfax County Public School liaison. A dozen local schools participated in honoring our veterans and provided over 600 valentines! Thank you to all who donated wagons: the McManus family, the Bente family, the Davis family, the Tedrick family, the Loadman family, the Volkert family, the Burks family, and the Manrique family. A special thanks to our scouts, scout leaders, and parents who delivered the valentines: Cub Scout Pack 41, Cub Scout Pack 50, Girl Scout Troop 52121, Girl Scout Troop 54024, Girl Scout Troop 54044, and Girl Scout Troop 54055. Their commitments to respect, duty, and honor are just some examples of the spirit of Middleridge that make it a proud place to call home.
Thank you to everyone who helped our community shine a little brighter.

Sincerely,
Karrie Kay, Marie Morris, and the MCA Board

“What a heart-warming treat on Saturday, when a knock on my door was by a young, well spoken Cub Scout who presented me with a bag of wonderful cards from the MCA Board, you and your family, and several thoughtful young folks.  I knew this treat was coming, but it was still special to see several parents and their uniformed Scouts honoring a Veteran neighbor.  Then one Cub Scout (seemingly designated or in charge) delivered a sincere “Thank you for your Service” speech ending with a beautiful salute.  WOW!  I came to attention and returned the young man’s salute — certainly among the finest salutes I’ve ever received.  Thank you for making that moment possible for me and that young neighborhood Scout.  It touched me deeply!”

Jerry Reynolds

“Thank you one and all.  It was an absolute delight to receive these wonderful Valentines cards.  We both enjoyed receiving them from an extremely polite Boy Scout. “
