Egg-ceptional Community Effort Makes Easter Egg Hunt a Hit

The Easter Egg Hunt was an egg-citing triumph, all thanks to the egg-ceptional volunteers and neighbors who generously devoted their time and enthusiasm to the event, especially Matt Anderson who stepped up to lead the event shortly before it was set to take place!

Although the weather did not cooperate on the original day planned for the event (March 23), it luckily cleared up on the rain date, March 24. At 2pm, the park was primed and ready for all of the excited children ready to scoop up the 1,000 eggs scattered throughout the Middleridge Park. Much fun was had by all — primarily due to the help of our generous community members.

Firstly, a huge shoutout to our friends at FCE who provided delicious snacks, drinks, and candies for the eggs, setting the stage for a sweet adventure. Longtime egg hunt coordinator, Sarah Koch, seamlessly passed the torch to Matt, offering invaluable insights and tips gleaned from past events. Her frequent communication and meticulous planning were instrumental in ensuring a smooth operation.

Karen Williams and her teenage kids deserve a round of applause for their Herculean effort in filling over 800 eggs with candy, complementing the ones Matt prepared, resulting in nearly 1,000 eggs scattered throughout the park. Thanks to their dedication, the park transformed into a treasure trove of goodies for our neighborhood kids to delight in.

Special mention goes to Marie Morris for crafting an eye-catching flyer that effectively spread the word among neighbors. The Zhang family—Yaya, Kevin, and Vicky—were instrumental in adorning the venue with decorations, setting up tables for snacks and drinks, and stealthily hiding eggs.

Jaimie Clark and her daughter Courtney were indispensable in their role, ensuring that snacks and drinks were plentiful for volunteers and in helping ensure that every corner of the park was adorned with hidden treasures. High schooler Annaliese Gonzalez brought boundless energy and artistic flair to the event, making the hunt even more delightful with her creative decorations and strategic egg placements.

Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to Webelo Scout JT Morris from Cub Scout Pack 41, who embodied the Scout Law by lending a hand with decorations and staging eggs.

In essence, the success of this event was a true testament to the power of community collaboration. With many hands working together, we made this egg-stravaganza a memorable and joyous occasion for all. Be sure to check out the event photos in the gallery below.
