Middleridge honored our veterans on Feb. 21st during the MCA’s annual Valentines for Veterans. This cherished event received almost 900 valentines that were lovingly crafted by our residents and children of various participating schools. Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Brownies assisted in making valentines as well as gleefully delivering valentine packages to our 150 local veterans.

Valentines for Veterans is a small token of gratitude to our local veterans. A wholehearted thank you to all who helped honor the service of our vets by either making valentines, donating candy, donating wagons, or donating scout refreshments. This event would not be possible without the participation of wonderful neighbors like you!
Special thanks to Maryn Simon, our Fairfax County Public School liaison, and those who helped to prepare the valentine bags: Mary Gonzales, Shefali Ryan, and Niamh Minus. Many thanks to Maureen Campbell and all the Block Captains who helped to confirm our veteran locations.
Thank you to our local families who provided valentines: Kathy & John, Niamh Minus, David and Maryn Simon, Sky for donating the fabulous valentines with treat bags, and countless, nameless others who donated valentines and/or candy. Valentines were also provided by Cub Scout Pack 41, Pack 555, and Girl Scout Troops. Participating schools were Larissa Sheehan and Bonnie Brae Elementary School (Mrs. Natalie Vershaw, coordinator), Lauren McCook and White Oaks Elementary School, Teresa Chiffons and Willow Springs Elementary School, and Holy Spirit Catholic School (Mrs. Anne Dyke, coordinator).
Thank you to all who donated wagons: the Bente family, the Burks family, the Frazier family, the Hawks family, the Kay family, the Masterson family, and the Pedneau family.
Thank you to all who donated the scout refreshments: Sheila & Herb Champion, Shanna Hendrix, Melissa Horwatt, Sarah Mayhew, Dan & Jackie McConnell, Sherry Slawski, and Smitha Vasudevan.
A special thanks to our scouts, scout leaders, and parents who delivered the valentines: Jason, Michelle, Caleb, and Cody Atkin; Ethiopia, Noah, and Yared Denekew; Mark, Nathaniel, and Alexander Dwyer; Ian and Joshua Fingerman; Shanna and Conall Hendrix; Suheyla, Daran, and Kam Lasky; Jackson and Thomas Stasny; Nate and Esher Terril; Kendall and Caleb Wilkins from Cub Scout Pack 41 (Scoutmaster Tom Silio); Kristen McManus and Madison from Brownie Troop 54109; Michael, Ashley and Emily Campana from Girl Scout Troop 52062; and Charlie Fingerman from Boy Scout Troop 697. Their commitments to respect, duty, and honor are just some examples of the spirit of Middleridge that make it a proud place to call home.
Thank you to everyone who helped our community be an exemplary model of neighborly love.
Sincerely,
Marie Morris and the MCA Board
