DESCRIPTION:Middleridge Civic Association \nJanuary Executive Board Meeting—January 12\, 2017 at John and Kathy Tedrick’s home \nCall to Order: 7:10pm \nMembers Present: Mike Torrey (President)\, John Tedrick (Treasurer)\, Sandy Obuchowski\n(Membership Co-Chair)\, Catie Morales (Newsletter Editor)\, Kim Nelson (Web Designer)\, Rick Jones\n(Interim Vice-President)\, and Tim Harazin (Past President) \nNote: Tim Henderson resigned as Vice-President and Rick Jones volunteered to hold the office until\nthe next elections in May. This change was approved. \nReview of Minutes: (Brad Koch not present)\, December meeting minutes previously approved \nTreasurer’s Report: John Tedrick\n· Our finances are in the black. We did not overspend. \nMembership Committee: Al and Sandy Obuchowski\n· 364 members \nOther Committee Reports\n· Welcoming—Carole Rodero (not present) no report\n· Newsletter—Catie Morales nothing to report\n· Neighborhood Watch—Chair TBD (Greg Summer has resigned)\n–a replacement to take over the volunteer scheduling is being sought\n· Webmaster—Joe Landry (not present) and Web Designer—Kim Nelson \nContinuing Business—Issues and Updates\n· Server/Website Update\, Next Door Middleridge–Joe Landry and Kim Nelson\n–Kim shared a summary of the community feedback form the survey\n— the feedback will be used to develop a draft of the content and look of a new website still deciding\nif Nextdoor.com will be integrated into the website\n–the plan is to have a draft by June\n· Dog waste receptacle with bags—the Park Authority will not pick up collected waste\n· Book exchange where people can exchange reading material\n–$500 of reserve funds is earmarked to purchase/build a community library receptacle\n· Ownership of fence along Ox Road (for maintenance)\n–Catie Morales confirmed that VDOT has taken responsibility for maintenance; repairs will\ndepend on how funds are allocated\n· Possible future virtual board meetings—feasibility\n–we will practice calling in or skyping in when possible \nPast Events (Recap)\n· Holiday judging—Dec 17 POC: Al and Sandy Obuchowski\n–judges were Al and Sandy Obuchowski\, Carole Rodero and Tim Harazin\n–last year’s winners were not able to join or did not respond to request \nContinuing Business—Upcoming Events (Recap)\n· Feed the firefighters—Feb TBD\n–Mike will call volunteers noted on membership forms to find a coordinator\n· Easter egg hunt—April 8 POC: TBD\n–Mike will check if Sarah Koch will chair the event again\n–National Night Out—POC: TBD (Interim POC: Catie Morales)\nPet Rock will be the band for the event. \nNew Business:\n· Budget for 2017\n–budget ($21\,793.00) was discussed and approved with the following changes:\no there will be no dumpster day unless this activity is sponsored\no $240 funding for the luminary sand is returned\no $100 of the funds donated for the all-night-grad-party will be kept in reserve to keep the\namounts similar to last year and keep a minimum balance in the account (the extra funds\nwill be used in 2018)\no $100 for the Speed Safety Initiative committee is removed (committee has been disbanded)\no $500 of reserve funds is earmarked to purchase/build a community library receptacle \nAdjournment: 9:02pm \nPlace of next meeting: Feb 2nd 7:00pm at Rick and Rosanne Jones’ home
