SUMMARY:Dumpster & Donation Day
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, October 1st from 8AM until 12PM\, or until dumpsters are full\, Middleridge and Fairfax Club Estates are hosting our annual Dumpster and Donation Day. \nDrop off will be at the Fairfax Club Estates Pool parking lot off Snowy Owl Drive. \nOne week after the community yard sale (September 24th)\, many residents use this as an opportunity to “unload” unsold items  However\, unlike the yard sale\, this event is only for members of Middleridge Civic Association and residents of Fairfax Club Estates. \nThe DONATION option is from 8:30AM until 10:30AM.Please see the flyer on the next page for details. \nFinally\, we are always looking for folks to volunteer to support this event. If any teenage students are looking for service hours\, we would greatly appreciate the help – donuts and coffee provided! Please contact John Bayer at mca.jmbayer@gmail.com

DESCRIPTION:Biannual Open Member Meeting  \nThursday October 13th at 7pm\, we will be having our MCA bi-annual Open Member meeting. \nLocation: Burke Centre \nLibrary (5935 Freds Oak Road \nBurke\, Va. 22015) as well as by Zoom (details to come). \nAgenda: Look for a full agenda via email\, but we will be going over a number of important items including the bylaws\, hearing from our local leaders\, voting for a new Vice President\, and discussing community concerns. \nOpen Position:  \nMCA needs to fill the Board with a new VP for the remainder of this year (until the Spring BoardMeeting). “It is with sadness that I must report that Tim Harazin is resigning his position as VP. Tim and his wife have will be moving south for a new adventure. I cannot express to you how much we will miss Tim’s enthusiastic leadership and willingness to always lend a hand. He has been a leading force in what makes this community and our civic associationso special\,” noted MCA President David Simon. \n“I would encourage any member who isinterested in helping our community out more directly to think about running\,” Simon added. \nIf you have any questions or want to know about being on ourboard\, please feel free to contact board@middleridgeffx.org.

SUMMARY:Feed the Burke Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department
DESCRIPTION:Middleridge residents support our first responders by providing meals to the West Springfield District Police\, the Station 32 Firefighters\, and the Burke Volunteer Firefighters. Our Feed the First Responders events held in March and June were a great success! Please consider donating to our last Feed the First Responders event of 2022 for the Burke Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department. \n   Middleridge residents will be participating in the Open House season for the department. We will provide dinner to both the volunteer and career staff on Friday\, October 14th. We are also collecting donations for their Open House breakfast for Saturday\, October 15th. The MCA will supply the main dinner dish. We need your help to complete the wonderful meals for the Burke staff. You may donate to the dinner or breakfast by signing up for an item below. Please include in the sign-up comment what your donation will be. Due to COVID-19\, only store-bought or catered items have been requested. \n   Please be sure to include a valid email address for coordination purposes. Email any questions to Marie Morris at mca.feed.ffp@gmail.com. \n   The MCA is also accepting donations to increase our budget for the Feed the First Responders events through the website. SUMMARY:Halloween Parade
DESCRIPTION:Ready for a howlin’ good time? Join us for our annual Middleridge Halloween Parade and Party on Sunday\, October 30th at 4 pm. We will meet at the top of Broadwater Drive and James Halley Drive and walk down Broadwater to the Middleridge Park where we will enjoy candy\, popcorn\, drinks\, and games. If we get enough volunteers\, we could even create a haunted trail! All residents of Middleridge (Furry ones included\, too!) are invited to join us- costumes are encouraged! For those who prefer to cheer us on\, please line the streets on the way to the park and check out the fantastic costumes as we stroll by.
