DESCRIPTION:Hello neighbors!  We have had some last minute changes to our line-up for this year.  Several folks wanted to host\, but for a variety of scheduling issues\, have to defer to next year.  So we will have a shorter list than usual\, and if there are additions\, you will hear about them by email.  Thanks so many of you who told me (at our NNO) how much you enjoy the Home Tour! \nRain or Shine. . .  all are welcome to tour the following homes: \nBruce and Laurie Owens\n10698 John Ayres Drive\nBraddock Model\nBruce and Laurie have lived in their home since 1998.  Laurie says that they have sloooooowly updated.  “During the pandemic we were among the many who made improvements to our house.  We remodeled our kitchen\, replaced the flooring on the main floor and did a whole lot of landscaping.”  They are excited to show folks the work they have done. \nGreg and Maureen Huggins\n5535 Shooters Hill Lane\nBraddock Model\nMaureen says\, “We’ve added a porch (with vinyl windows-something we had never seen before)\, a deck and patio and some landscaping to the backyard.” We are delighted that Greg and Maureen are showing their new additions and sharing their ideas with neighbors! \nJohn Peterson and Mary Vander Maten\n10913 Spurlock Court\nCarter Model\nMost of us in Middleridge are trying to find a few more inches in our bathrooms.  We redid both upstairs bathrooms\, with a restructuring of the master bath to make one larger room.  We have been really happy with the outcome and would love to show others. \nQuestions about the tour:  Call/text Mary Vander Maten at 703-371-9349 or mavandermaten@gmail.com

DESCRIPTION:Judging Categories/Criteria  \n01. Williamsburg Award – Decorations are in the classic Williamsburg style. All lights must be white – no colored lights. May use candles\, evergreens (real or artificial)\, ribbons and fruit displays over doorways\, windows\, etc. Spotlights may be used to enhance the appearance of the evergreen or fruit displays. Figures are not included in this display category.  \n02. Traditional Award – Lights can be any color\, any style and may frame the house\, and/or be draped over bushes\, trees or other parts of the yard and home. Figures\, like Santa\, snowman\, deer or other seasonal creatures may be used. Spotlights may be used to enhance the display.  \n03. Wattage Award – Consists of large\, extensive display of colored and/or white lights and figures (animated or not). Can include lights on the house\, roof\, trees\, bushes\, fences\, walkways\, basketball hoops or other yard features. It is all about volume\, with a touch of amazement.  \n04. Judges Special Award – Awarded to a home that uses a unique technique to achieve a special decorative and/or festive holiday display. This may include styles or themes that do not quite fit any of the above categories or may be a mixture of several categories.  \n05. Group Award – Awarded to a group of three or more houses that are similarly decorated and that present a consistent look for the Holiday spirit. Any tasteful decorating style can be used. Each house will receive recognition.

DESCRIPTION:Scholarship applications for the 2023/24 school year are now being accepted. The Middleridge Civic Association awards up to three one-year\, non-renewable scholarships to graduating high school seniors whose parents/guardians are members in good standing of the Middleridge Civic Association as of March 1\, 2024. The scholarships are awarded on the basis of scholastic achievement\, extracurricular activities\, and a personal interview.  \nThe scholarship committee will review all applications submitted by April 1 and select finalists for personal interviews. The personal interview will be conducted by the scholarship committee. All interviews will be concluded by April 30\, 2024.  \nThe application must be completed by the student applying for the scholarship. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 20\, 2024\, join your fellow Middleridge neighbors in creating space for the things you really love in your home while seeing others delight in the treasures you’re shedding.  \nDetails: Saturday\, April 20\nRain date\, April 21\n7am — 1pm  \nMarketing: The yard sale will be advertised via different online websites\, apps\, and social media. We will put together a community yard sale map which will include a list of participating homes. Yard sale maps will be distributed at all entrances to the neighborhood on the morning of the event.  \nSign up: If you want to be included in the yard sale map\, please provide your address to our new coordinator\, Donna Hosek (donnahosek@yahoo. com) no later than Thursday\, April 18. Members and non-members are welcome to participate!
