DESCRIPTION:This year the Middleridge Civic Association (MCA) will award up to three one-year\, non-renewable scholarships to graduating high school seniors whose parent(s) or legal guardian(s) are members in good standing of the MCA as of March 1\, 2025.  \n\nThe scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement\, extracurricular activities\, and a personal interview.\nApplications must be completed by the student and submitted by Sunday\, April 13\, 2025.\nThe scholarship committee will review all applications and select finalists for personal interviews. The personal interview will be conducted by the scholarship committee. DESCRIPTION:When is the event? \nScouts will deliver valentines on Feb. 9th from 1-3pm. We ask that veterans who wish to receive their packages in person be available during this time.  \nAre there ways to help support VFV? \nNeighbors may help in many ways:  \n— help us to identify our veterans\n— make valentines\n— help prepare valentine bags for our veterans\n— loan the MCA a delivery wagon\n— donate items \nIdentifying our Veterans \nPlease email the name and address of a Middleridge veteran to mca.vfv@gmail.com. We consider our veterans to be anyone who has a history of service in the military (active duty\, reserve\, national guard\, or retired). \nMaking Valentines  \nThe scouts deliver packages to over 140 veterans. That is a lot of valentines! Please consider making valentines that contain a general message to a veteran. You can even use the template provided on the next page to make 4 quick valentines! Just color\, write a quick note\, cut\, and drop them off.  \nValentines should be dropped off in the container on the porch of 5423 Governor Yeardley Dr.by Feb. 5th.  \nGoodie Donations \nWe welcome wrapped candies or other wrapped goodies to distribute to our veterans. If you are able to loan the MCA a wagon\, then please sign up on the signup genius page linked below. \nScout Refreshments \nWe will also be collecting light refreshment donations for the scouts and their chaperones to enjoy after delivering the valentines. The contest will have one winner and one runner-up\, both of which will receive a prize from the MCA. \nContest Rules \nThe rules are simple. To be eligible\, you must be a member of the MCA for the year 2024 and not have won in the past two years. Beyond that\, judges will be looking for the best display of lighting and Halloween themed decor. There are no other rules/restrictions. \nJudging \nAnyone interested in volunteering to judge should send an email to alobuchowski@verizon.net indicating your interest. We are seeking two or three families as judges\, so please contact Al if you are able/willing to help out. \nTimeline \nJudges will meet at about 6:30 pm to go over the plan for judging\, which they will conduct 7–9pm when it should be dark and the lights will display at their spooky best. \nGood luck to all “Halloween Lighters”!!! \nAl Obuchowski \n703-352-1380

DESCRIPTION:Prepare yourselves for a howlin’ good time at our second largest event of the year where over 200 family members dress up and participate in a fabulous afternoon of fun and laughter. \n  \n   Meet at the top of Broadwater Drive and James Halley Drive and parade down Broadwater to Middleridge Park. \n   At the park participants will enjoy candy\, popcorn\, drinks\, and games. If we get enough volunteers\, we will also recreate our haunted trail! \n   All residents of Middleridge and Fairfax Club Estates (furry ones included) are invited to join us. Costumes are encouraged! \n   For those who prefer to cheer neighbors on\, please line the streets on the way to the park and cheer for the fantastic costumes as they stroll by. \n   Please contact Board@middleridgeffx.com if you can help us decorate and prepare for this event.
